About Yinan
Yinan Ma earned her undergraduate degree from Boston University in 2012 and completed her Juris Doctor at Villanova University School of Law in 2015. Her academic path combined liberal arts coursework with legal training, preparing her for practice in two neighboring state systems. She left law school ready to move into courtroom work and client counsel.
After passing the bar, Ma entered private practice and built her career in the region where she was educated. She is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and her work has required regular appearances in state courts across those jurisdictions. Colleagues describe her as pragmatic in the courtroom and thorough in preparing written submissions.
Ma joined Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti, P.C., where she has served as an associate attorney. At the firm she contributes to a mix of litigation matters, handling pretrial investigation, motion practice, and negotiation on behalf of clients. She collaborates with senior lawyers at the firm on complex files and manages day-to-day case responsibilities. The firm environment gave her steady exposure to contested proceedings and to the procedural rules that govern both Pennsylvania and New Jersey practice.
Her practice requires frequent coordination with insurers, opposing counsel, and court personnel. That work has sharpened her attention to scheduling and to the details that influence the timing of hearings and filings. Peers note she is methodical about discovery and attentive to evidentiary issues when preparing cases for trial or settlement discussions.
Outside the office Ma participates in professional activities connected to the local bar and legal community. She maintains current bar memberships in the states where she practices and takes part in continuing legal education to keep pace with changes in procedure and substantive law. Her educational background and bi-state licensure position her to advise clients whose matters cross state lines.
Her approach to cases is practical. She strives to set clear expectations for clients and to pursue efficient resolutions when possible, while preparing to litigate when necessary. She balances motion work, discovery management, and client counseling in a steady daily practice.
Ma currently practices at Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti, P.C., handling matters in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
