About Yana A.

Yana A. Applegate pursued advanced legal training at Florida Coastal School of Law, where she completed a Master of U.S. Law in 2011 and an LL.M. in 2013. Those graduate programs deepened her understanding of U.S. statutory and administrative frameworks. She used that foundation to build a practice rooted in the procedural and substantive demands of immigration work.

After finishing her LL.M., Applegate established her professional practice in California. She is licensed to practice in that state and has built a practice at Applegate Immigration Law, LLC. Over the years she has worked with clients across a range of immigration matters. Her path from academic study to active practice reflects a steady focus on the immigration system and its complexities.

In day-to-day work she helps individuals and families navigate paperwork and hearings. She prepares petitions and applications, shepherds cases through administrative review, and represents clients in proceedings when needed. The work requires attention to deadlines and evidence, and she emphasizes clear explanations so clients understand their options and next steps. She also interacts regularly with government agencies and stays current on policy changes that affect case strategy.

Colleagues describe her approach as practical and procedural. She breaks down dense regulations into plain language. That matters in immigration cases where forms, timing and supporting documents can determine an outcome. She spends considerable time on case preparation and client communication. That attention aims to reduce surprises and keep cases moving through a slow system.

Outside the office, Applegate has maintained ties to the community of immigration practitioners and to continuing legal education, attending trainings and updates relevant to practice. She views the practice as one that mixes client counseling, administrative procedure and, when necessary, advocacy before adjudicators. Her experience combines graduate legal study with hands-on work in California’s immigration environment.

She currently practices immigration law at Applegate Immigration Law, LLC, handling a range of immigration matters.
