About William Travis
William Travis Patterson began his academic path at the University of Texas at Austin, where he completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance in 2009. He stayed at UT Austin for law school and earned his Juris Doctor in 2012. Those years in Austin shaped both his analytical approach to problems and his courtroom instincts.
After law school Patterson established his practice in Texas. He moved into leadership fairly quickly. In 2015 he took on the role of managing partner at Patterson Law Group, a position he continues to hold. The title reflects long hours in the office and time in court. It also means overseeing case strategy, client relationships and the day-to-day operations of a small firm.
Patterson maintains active ties to the local and state legal communities. He is a current member of the State Bar of Texas and joined the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Tarrant County Trial Lawyers Association in 2015. Those memberships align him with attorneys who regularly pursue contested civil matters and trial work. Outside the courthouse, he has served on the board of Camp Fire First Texas since 2017, taking part in governance for a nonprofit focused on youth programs in the region.
Colleagues describe Patterson as methodical in preparation and deliberate at trial. He balances courtroom work with administrative responsibilities at the firm. That balance shows in how cases are staffed and how younger lawyers at the firm are mentored. Patterson’s professional memberships give him regular contact with peers across the state and keep him engaged in issues that affect trial practice.
Patterson’s career arc is straightforward: business training followed by legal training, then steady development into firm leadership and trial practice. He has built a practice based in Texas that draws on both his finance background and his law training. He continues to lead Patterson Law Group while remaining active in trial-focused professional organizations.
He currently practices in Texas, handling trial and litigation matters as managing partner of Patterson Law Group.
