About William Michael
William Michael Quillen studied philosophy as an undergraduate at Brigham Young University and earned his J.D. from Gonzaga University School of Law. Those academic years laid a foundation in critical reasoning and legal analysis that has threaded through his subsequent work in private practice and litigation.
Quillen entered practice in 2009 as an associate at Smith Freed & Eberhard P.C. He spent the next several years gaining courtroom and office experience, joining Vial Fotheringham, LLP in 2013. In 2015 he became a partner at Quillen Law, PS, and four years later he moved into a partner role at Anderson Law, PLLC. The progression marks a steady shift from junior lawyer to law firm leadership.
Over the course of his career Quillen has been admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington, and he is also admitted to the Federal Circuit. Those admissions have allowed him to work on matters in both state and federal venues. Colleagues describe him as practical in court and methodical when preparing cases, a combination that has shaped how he manages litigation and client relationships.
Quillen maintains membership in the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association. He has kept ties to professional groups that focus on trial practice and litigation issues, which reflect the litigation-oriented path of his career.
In office life Quillen has handled a mix of courtroom appearances, pretrial work and client counseling. He has moved through firms that handle contested matters, adapting to the different demands of small and mid-size practices. As a partner he has taken on broader responsibilities, including case strategy, client intake and mentoring younger lawyers.
Clients and peers see Quillen as an attorney who blends analytical training from his philosophy background with practical courtroom experience. He approaches each file by breaking complex legal questions into more manageable parts and then addressing those parts in sequence. That methodical approach has been a throughline from his earliest associate days to his current partnership role.
He currently practices as a partner at Anderson Law, PLLC, handling matters in state and federal courts.
