About William Kemper
William Kemper Rogers is a retired attorney who was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1968. He holds and was previously associated with Rogers & Sheffield LLP, a law firm located at 427 E Carrillo St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. Mr. Rogers' license status is currently resigned, with his resignation effective as of October 27, 2018. Prior to his resignation, he was in active status from January 5, 1968, until August 31, 2018. His practice areas included business law, environmental law, intellectual property, and real estate law.
He represented clients in various legal stages, including entity formations, asset and entity purchases, sales, financings, mergers and acquisitions, complex contract negotiations, commercial transactions, real estate syndications, land use planning and development, and leasing and licensing of oil and gas rights. He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree from Duke University School of Law in 1967 and his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona in 1964. He was a member of the Editorial Board of the Duke Law Review from 1965 to 1967.
Mr. Rogers was a founding partner of Rogers, Sheffield & Campbell, LLP, a law firm based in Santa Barbara, California. He represented individuals and businesses throughout California's Central Coast in a wide range of corporate, business, and real estate matters. He was awarded a Martindale-Hubbell rating of AV Preeminent for 21 consecutive years, signifying the highest level of ethical standards and legal ability. Mr. Rogers was involved in pro bono activities, including serving as a Director and General Counsel for the Tulare Basin Wetlands Association, a habitat protection organization in the San Joaquin Valley.
He also served as President of the Board of Directors of Dog Adoption & Welfare Group (DAWG), a dog welfare nonprofit in Santa Barbara, and was a member of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association. Additionally, he served on The Santa Barbara Harbor Commission for 13 years. Mr. Rogers was born in Tucson, Arizona. He began his legal career at Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton in Los Angeles before moving to Santa Barbara in 1970, where he formed the law firm that ultimately became Rogers, Sheffield & Campbell, LLP.
