About William J.
William J. Stogsdill built his legal foundation in two different worlds. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management from Clemson University in 2005. Four years later he completed his legal training at The John Marshall Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2009.
He entered the courtroom soon after law school. In 2009 he joined the Criminal Prosecutor’s Bureau of DuPage County as an Assistant State’s Lawyer. That early prosecutorial role put him in the middle of daily motion practice, evidentiary hearings and jury trials. It also gave him an inside view of how state prosecutors prepare cases and make charging decisions.
A few years later he shifted to private practice. In 2012 he became a partner at Stogsdill Law Office, P.C. The firm carries his name and reflects a transition from public service to representing individual clients and businesses. As a partner he has overseen case strategy, client counseling and litigation management.
Stogsdill is licensed in both Illinois and Florida. He maintains membership in the Florida State Bar and the Illinois State Bar Association. Locally, he is active in the DuPage County Bar Association and formerly served on its Young Lawyers Committee. He is also a member of the Robert E. Jones AIC of DuPage County. Those associations keep him connected to colleagues and current developments in state practice and procedure.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who knows courtroom routines and procedural timelines. His prosecutorial background shapes his approach to evidence and witness preparation. He applies that perspective in private practice when evaluating cases and preparing for trial.
Over the years he has balanced litigation and client advisement. He has moved from the prosecutorial side of the docket into running a private firm. That trajectory gives him experience on both sides of criminal and regulatory matters that come before state courts.
He currently practices at The Stogsdill Law Office, P.C., handling legal matters in Florida and Illinois.
