About William
William Hackett grew up interested in public affairs and the mechanics of law. He earned a B.A. in political science from North Carolina State University in 2009, then moved to Tennessee for law school. He received his J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2012.
After law school, Hackett began building a practice in Memphis. He joined professional organizations early on, holding memberships in the Tennessee Bar Association, the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Association for Justice. Those ties have kept him connected to peers across the state and the city while he developed his courtroom and client work.
Colleagues describe Hackett as methodical and direct in his approach. He spends time preparing cases and explaining options to clients. He is comfortable in hearings and in negotiations. Over the years he has handled matters that required both attention to legal detail and practical client communication.
Hackett’s work sits at the intersection of litigation and client advocacy. He has taken cases through contested proceedings and has worked on settlements when clients’ interests were best served by negotiated outcomes. He approaches each file by identifying the core legal questions and the realistic remedies available to clients, then shaping strategy around those elements.
Outside of case work, he has remained engaged in local legal circles. Memberships in the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Association for Justice have provided access to continuing education and informal networks of referral and advice. He also maintains ties to the Tennessee Bar Association for statewide resources and professional development.
He is currently an attorney at Morgan & Morgan, where he practices on behalf of the firm’s clients. His current practice focuses on representing clients through litigation and related legal processes at Morgan & Morgan.
