About William Derek
William Derek Hux built a path to the law from an unconventional starting point. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from William Woods University in 2001 and later returned to school for a Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Columbia, completing his law degree in 2011. The combination of performance training and legal education shaped a lawyer comfortable in court and in the conference room.
After finishing law school in 2011, Hux launched his legal practice. That same year he began working as a lawyer at The Hux Law Office, LLC. He has remained in private practice since then, representing clients in matters arising in Missouri and building a local practice rooted in sustained client relationships.
Hux is a member of the Missouri bar and has been active in local legal circles for more than a decade. He joined The Callaway County Bar in 2011 and continues that membership. The steady presence in county bar activities underscores his engagement with the community of lawyers and judges who handle everyday legal work in that region.
Colleagues describe Hux as methodical and practical. He draws on his theatrical background when presenting oral arguments and when preparing witnesses. That stage training appears to have informed how he organizes a case and communicates points of law under pressure. Over the years he has handled the kinds of matters that keep small firms and solo practitioners busy: client counseling, court appearances and transactional work that serves individuals and small businesses.
Hux's practice has been centered in Missouri since he began his career. He has maintained a steady local presence, operating under the Hux Law name in the community where he practices. In 2026 he remains at Hux Law, handling legal matters for clients in Missouri and continuing to conduct business through his firm.
