About William
William Cruse built a methodical path into law that began in the sciences. He studied chemistry at Pearl River Community College before earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Mississippi College in 2005. He then completed his legal education at Mississippi College School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2009.
After law school, Cruse took a traditional route through the local legal community. He served as a law clerk at Ferguson & Fike in 2007 while still completing his studies. That early experience led to his first position as a lawyer at The Cruse Legal Firm in 2009, where he began handling a range of matters for clients in the region.
In 2010 he stepped briefly outside the legal field to serve as Director of Youth Ministries at St. James Episcopal Church. The role put him in a leadership position within the community and added a different set of responsibilities to an otherwise courtroom-oriented resume.
Cruse returned to private practice and in 2015 joined Patch & Bryan, PLLC as an associate. Around that time he also became active in local bar work, joining the Pearl River County Bar Association in 2015. He has held bar membership since 2009, maintaining ties to the county legal community as he moved between roles.
In 2017 he opened his own firm, Picayune Law, PLLC. As owner, he has overseen client matters and the day-to-day operations of a small practice. He is admitted to practice in Mississippi and before the Federal Circuit. He also earned ALTA Best Practices certification, a credential linked to title services and standards used in real estate and closing work.
Cruse’s career mixes courtroom and community experience. He has worked as a law clerk, practiced as an attorney in an eponymous firm, served as an associate in a regional firm, and launched his own practice. The church leadership role adds an element of local civic involvement that runs alongside his legal work.
He maintains his office at Picayune Law, PLLC and continues to represent clients regionally. He holds ALTA Best Practices certification and practices in matters related to title and real estate services as well as general civil matters.
