About William C

William C Crantford earned his law degree from Charleston School of Law in 2014 after completing undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University in 2009. He left Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Arts and later returned to the Carolinas to study law. Those academic years framed the start of a legal career that has stayed rooted in South Carolina.

Fresh out of law school, Crantford served a judicial clerkship for the South Carolina Circuit Court, First Circuit, in 2014. The clerkship placed him inside the courthouse and gave him firsthand experience with court procedures and the rhythm of civil and criminal dockets. He spent that year assisting judges, researching legal questions and drafting opinions and orders.

Soon after, Crantford moved into practice and became an active member of the bar community. He has been part of the South Carolina Bar House of Delegates since 2016, representing the 9th Circuit. That role has kept him engaged in the governance and policy conversations of the state bar. He holds memberships in the Dorchester County Bar Association and the Charleston County Bar Association, joining both early in his career and remaining involved thereafter.

Crantford also holds memberships in larger professional groups. He joined the American Bar Association in 2014. In 2017 he became a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a lifetime membership group. These affiliations reflect a practice that values both local ties and national professional networks.

Colleagues describe him as someone who learned the mechanics of courtroom work during his clerkship and continued to build practical experience in the years that followed. His work benefits from that early exposure to judicial decision-making and the demands of written legal analysis. He has balanced membership roles and representative obligations with the day-to-day demands of legal practice.

Outside of formal memberships, Crantford’s professional timeline shows steady involvement in the legal community since his graduation. He has been active in county bar organizations and has represented the 9th Circuit in the state bar’s House of Delegates for several years. Those roles keep him connected to local practitioners and the issues that shape practice in South Carolina.

He practices law in South Carolina and maintains an active role in state and local bar organizations as part of his current practice focus.
