About Wiley

J. Wiley George is a seasoned mediator based in Houston, Texas, with over 35 years of experience in commercial litigation. He founded Wiley George Mediation PLLC in 2023, offering mediation and arbitration services to clients across the Houston area. A graduate of Baylor University with a B.B.A. in Finance and Economics in 1983, Mr. George earned his J.D. from Baylor Law School in 1986, graduating cum laude and serving on the Baylor Law Review.

He began his legal career at Strasburger & Price in Dallas, one of the Southwest's premier trial firms at the time. In 1993, he opened Strasburger's Houston office, and in 2003, he joined Andrews Kurth LLP, where he practiced for over 15 years. He later joined McKool Smith, a nationally renowned litigation boutique, before transitioning to full-time mediation. Throughout his career, Mr. George has handled a diverse range of commercial litigation cases, including antitrust, bankruptcy, breach of contract, commercial torts, construction, consumer protection, covenants not to compete, franchise and distribution, fraud, insurance coverage, intellectual property, legal malpractice, mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas, public law. Securities. He has also gained experience in personal injury cases, particularly through his early years handling toxic tort cases and later through an insurance coverage practice.

In 2023, after taking time off during the COVID pandemic, Mr. George realized his focus on litigation and trial law. He founded Wiley George Mediation PLLC to continue his involvement in the legal field, focusing on mediation and arbitration to help parties resolve disputes efficiently. Mr. George has been recognized multiple times as a Texas Super Lawyer, an honor awarded to a select number of attorneys in the state. He has also been named among The Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation and Construction Law from 2015 to 2022. He is a Life Fellow of both the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation, reflecting his commitment to the legal profession.

Mr. George is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, Southern. Western Districts of Texas, as well as the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Houston Bar Association's Alternative Dispute Resolution Council and serves on the Institute for Energy Law Advisory Board. He has co-authored articles on mediation and has been a speaker at various legal seminars.
