About Whitney R.
Whitney R. Anderson built a steady path into law that traces back to small internships and a law degree earned in New York. She completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at Fairfield University, receiving a B.A. in 2009. She then earned a J.D. from New York Law School in 2012. Those academic credentials provided the foundation for a career centered in Rhode Island.
Her early legal experience was hands-on. While in law school and before, she took a series of summer positions in county and public offices. In 2008 she worked in the Kent County clerk’s office. The following year she served as a summer intern at the Newport County Public Defender’s Office. In 2010 she spent a summer with the Kent County Lawyer General’s Office, and in 2011 she interned with the Greater Providence Board of REALTORS. During 2013 she completed a legal internship with Kristine S. Trocki, Lawyer and Counsellor at Law, LLC. That same year she joined Updegrove Law, Ltd. as an associate lawyer.
Her resume shows consistent ties to the Rhode Island legal community. Since 2013 she has held memberships in the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Newport County Bar Association and the Edward P. Gallogly Family Court Inn of Court. She is also a member of the American Bar Association. These affiliations reflect ongoing engagement with local courts and colleagues, and she has maintained those memberships from 2013 to the present.
Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who moved from public-sector internships into private practice, carrying courtroom and office experience along the way. Her time at the public defender’s office and in county clerk and general offices gave her familiarity with procedure and case handling at multiple levels. At Updegrove Law she worked as an associate handling matters that drew on that procedural background and on the interpersonal skills she developed through client-facing roles.
Today Anderson practices in Rhode Island as a family law lawyer. Her work involves family court matters and related proceedings. She manages divorce, custody and support cases and appears in family court on behalf of clients. Her practice is anchored in the local bar associations where she has been active since 2013.
She currently practices family law in Rhode Island.
