About Wendy
Wendy Hickey built a legal career from the ground up. She entered the field first as a paralegal, then moved steadily through the ranks to become a partner at the firm that has defined much of her professional life.
Her formal legal training began at Suffolk University Law School, where she earned her J.D. in 2003. Before law school she completed a B.S. in Criminology at Suffolk University in 1998. Her earliest post-secondary credential is an A.A. in Paralegal Studies from Fisher College, awarded in 1994. That combination of paralegal training, undergraduate study in criminology, and a law degree shaped a practical approach to litigation and client service.
Hickey’s association with the Nissenbaum firm is long-standing. She joined Nissenbaum Law Offices initially as a paralegal in 1994. She returned as a law clerk in 1999 while pursuing her law degree, became an associate after graduation in 2003, and was elevated to partner in 2015 when the firm became Nissenbaum Hickey LLC. The progression is notable for its continuity; she has worked at the same firm across multiple roles and decades.
She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the First Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect work that extends beyond the trial court level and into appellate practice. In parallel to casework, she has taken on roles inside professional organizations. Since 2015 she has co-chaired the Legislative Committee of the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association. She is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers beginning in 2015. She has been involved with the AAML Foundation since 2012 and has held membership in the American Bar Association since 2003.
Her professional associations indicate a concentration in family law. Over the years she has handled matters that require both courtroom presence and careful attention to legislative and policy developments affecting family law practice. Colleagues and peers see her as someone who navigates complex statutory and procedural issues and brings that experience back to clients.
Today she is a partner at Nissenbaum Hickey LLC. Her practice centers on family law matters at the firm.
