About W. Dane

W. Dane Carey has practiced law across state and federal forums for more than a decade. He is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions shape the contours of his work and inform how he approaches litigation and appellate tasks.

Carey’s early professional years included time as an associate lawyer at Dingeman & Dancer, PLC in 2015. There he handled a range of matters that exposed him to both trial procedure and appellate briefing. The experience offered a chance to work on cases that required careful drafting and courtroom presence, and it established a foundation he has built on since.

Over the years Carey expanded his practice into broader federal and state work. He has maintained credentials that allow him to appear in federal appellate courts and at the nation’s highest court, and he uses those credentials when cases require elevated review. He approaches each docket with an eye for legal detail and procedural posture, and he seeks to align strategy with where a case might ultimately proceed.

Colleagues describe Carey as methodical in his preparation. He tends to break complex problems into discrete issues. That approach informs how he manages discovery, structures motions, and prepares appellate briefs. It also guides client conversations, which he frames around practical choices and likely next steps rather than abstract predictions.

Today Carey practices at Carey & Jaskowski, PLLC. The firm handles litigation in state and federal courts, and Carey’s practice reflects that mix. He spends time drafting pleadings, arguing motions, and preparing appeals when a matter moves beyond the trial level.

Outside the courtroom he is involved in the routine work of running a small firm: supervising filings, coordinating with co-counsel, and managing client expectations through the life of a case. He currently concentrates his practice at Carey & Jaskowski, PLLC, representing clients in Michigan state courts and in federal courts, including the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
