About W. Clayton
W. Clayton Williford began his path toward law after an undergraduate degree that started in a different field. He earned a B.S. in Pre-Med from Brigham Young University, then shifted course and completed a J.D. at Chapman University. The move from sciences to law gave him a grounding in disciplined analysis and careful problem solving.
After law school he entered practice and eventually became a partner at Woods Williford. He is admitted to practice in both California and Texas. Over the years he has built a practice that operates out of multiple Southern California offices, reflecting a regional presence rather than a single-city focus.
Williford has been active in local trial circles for more than a decade. He has held memberships in the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA), the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA), and JRCLS since 2011. Those memberships place him among lawyers who regularly engage with trial procedure, continuing education and peer networks in the state.
Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and practical at counsel table. He works on cases that require persistent attention to fact development, witness preparation and legal strategy. He prefers clear lines of communication with clients and opposing counsel. He also spends time understanding medical and technical materials, a habit that traces back to his undergraduate studies.
The firm operates offices in Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. That footprint allows him to accept matters across several counties and to appear where cases require local presence. The office structure also supports collaboration among lawyers who handle investigation and trial preparation in parallel.
Outside courtrooms he attends association events and continuing legal education programs tied to his memberships. He joined the trial associations in 2011 and has maintained that involvement through the present. That steady engagement reflects an emphasis on staying current with trial practice and procedural developments.
He continues to practice as a partner at Woods Williford, operating across the firm’s Southern California offices and maintaining admissions in both California and Texas. His current practice concentrates on trial and civil litigation matters handled through the firm’s multi-office platform.
