About W. Cagney
W. Cagney McCormick took a conventional path into the law but has built a practice that crosses state lines. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Government and American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006. He then continued his legal training at St. Mary’s University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2011.
After finishing law school, McCormick entered legal practice and accumulated experience that led him to start his own office. In 2016 he became the owner of McCormick Law Office. He has overseen the office’s operations since then, handling the business side of a small firm while directing client work and case management.
McCormick is admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions. His list of admissions includes Arkansas, Michigan, Georgia, Ohio, Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas. Those credentials allow him to handle matters that span a wide geographic area and require familiarity with differing state rules and procedures. That multi-state admission set also means he deals regularly with the practical challenges of cross-jurisdictional filings and court appearances.
He maintains memberships in professional associations and takes part in ongoing legal education to stay current on developments that affect his clients. Within his office he is responsible for supervising case strategy, overseeing litigation logistics and ensuring filings meet the procedural demands of each jurisdiction where he practices.
Colleagues describe McCormick as methodical in how he approaches a file. He favors clear lines of communication with clients and practical planning over broad theory. Day-to-day, that translates into managing deadlines, coordinating with local counsel when needed and keeping clients informed about options and timing. He also handles the administrative duties that come with running a firm, from client intake to billing procedures.
McCormick continues to direct the McCormick Law Office and to accept matters that align with his admissions across the seven states where he is licensed to practice. He now concentrates his practice on serving clients across those jurisdictions.
