Vincent James DeSimone is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1985. His license is currently in active status. Mr. DeSimone is the founder and managing attorney of V. James DeSimone Law, a law firm located in Marina del Rey, California. He has been practicing law for over 40 years, serving clients throughout Southern California.
Mr. DeSimone earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law in 1985. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981. During his time at UCLA, he was actively involved in various legal clinics and externships, gaining practical experience in civil rights and employment law.
Mr. DeSimone concentrates his practice in the areas of civil rights, employment law, and personal injury. He represents individuals in matters involving wrongful termination, workplace discrimination, harassment, wage and hour disputes, and police misconduct. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. DeSimone has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as a staff attorney at Westside Legal Services in Santa Monica from 1987 to 1990, where he was the lead trial lawyer representing lower-income families and individuals who could not afford a lawyer.
Mr. DeSimone is an active member of the California Employment Lawyers Association, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has been recognized for his contributions to the legal community, including being named to the "Top 100: Southern California Super Lawyers" list for multiple consecutive years and receiving the Civil Rights Lawyer of the Year Award in 2014. Mr. DeSimone is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Southern California effectively.
