About Victor J.
Victor J. Koufman earned his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University in 1980, studying psychology and social relations. He stayed in the Boston area for law school and received his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1984. Those years laid a foundation in both human behavior and legal procedure that has shaped a long career in litigation and counsel work.
He began his legal career in public service as an assistant district lawyer in Middlesex in 1984. That early courtroom experience gave him steady exposure to trial work and case preparation. He moved into private practice later in the decade, joining Hale & Dorr in 1989 and then Witmer & Associates in 1991. In 1992 he became a partner at Koufman, Williams & DeIulis, L.L.P., and he later helped establish Koufman Law Group, LLC, where he serves as a partner.
Koufman is admitted to practice in both Massachusetts and Vermont and is also admitted in several federal forums. His federal admissions include the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. He has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1985.
Throughout his career he has maintained ties to local and regional bar organizations. His memberships include the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Vermont State Bar, the Federal Bar Association, the Essex County Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Advocates Association, Inc. Those affiliations reflect a practice that spans municipal, state and federal work in New England.
Koufman’s background bridges public prosecution and private litigation. Early work in the district attorney’s office exposed him to trial dynamics and witness preparation. Private practice years broadened his exposure to civil matters handled in state courts and federal districts. The sequence of roles—from government attorney to associate positions and then to partnership—tracks a steady accumulation of courtroom and case management experience.
He is a partner at Koufman Law Group, LLC and handles matters in state and federal courts in Massachusetts and Vermont.
