About Victor Alfredo
Victor Alfredo Palacios built his legal foundation across two countries and several disciplines. He began in Miami-Dade, earning an associate degree in mass communications at Miami Dade College. He went on to study political science and international relations at Florida State University, and completed a J.D. at Nova Southeastern University in 2013. That same year he spent time at Universitat de Barcelona studying international law and related legal studies.
Palacios entered public service early in his career. In 2013 he worked as a legal intern on international conventions at the Ministerio del Ambiente in Peru. The following year he joined the Public Defender’s Office in Florida’s Sixteenth Judicial Circuit as an assistant public defender. He handled trial work and client representation in state court, gaining firsthand experience in criminal defense practice and courtroom procedure.
His career path then moved into regional conflict counsel. In 2022 he served as Assistant Regional Conflict Counsel for the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, Third District. That position involved managing cases where private counsel conflicts or other ethics issues required oversight by a regional office. He also held leadership roles earlier in his career, including a position as executive co-director at the Inter-American Center for Human Rights.
In 2023 Palacios opened Reed Palacios Law, a practice that lists criminal defense and immigration matters among its services. He maintains local professional ties; he is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association and the Monroe County chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also lists service as Assistant Criminal Conflict Regional Counsel for the Third Region among his current associations.
Colleagues and clients notice the breadth of his background: study abroad in Barcelona, public defense, regional counsel responsibilities and international internship work. Those experiences inform how he evaluates cases and represents clients. He is licensed to practice in Florida and continues to handle criminal defense and immigration matters at Reed Palacios Law, PLLC.
