About Vi

Vi Nanthaveth built a path to law that began in classrooms far from courtrooms. She first studied mass communications and photojournalism, then turned to legal training. The mix of visual reporting and communication study is an unusual foundation for a lawyer. It has shaped how she gathers facts, prepares clients and presents issues.

Nanthaveth earned a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of New Orleans in 1999. She continued at Southern University - New Orleans, completing an M.A. in Photojournalism in 2000. After that, she pursued legal studies at Southern University Law Center and received her J.D. in 2003. The sequence of degrees — communications, journalism and then law — frames much of her professional narrative.

She moved from education into practice and into business ownership. In 2007 she opened Nanthaveth & Associates. The firm carries her name and reflects a decision to handle cases and clients on her own terms. Over the years she has maintained a practice licensed in Louisiana. That jurisdictional focus anchors her work and determines the courts and rules she engages.

Colleagues and clients describe her as methodical and detail-oriented. Those traits echo the demands of photojournalism and of legal training. Preparing evidence, organizing documents and telling a client’s story in clear terms are tasks that suit her background. She blends investigative habits from journalism with procedural knowledge from law school.

Her career has been largely independent since forming her firm. Running a small practice means handling both legal work and the business tasks that accompany it. She has overseen client intake, case strategy and other operational responsibilities that smaller firms require. That hands-on role gives her direct oversight of the matters the firm accepts.

Nanthaveth’s professional footprint is centered in Louisiana. She practices under the banner of her own firm and represents clients within the state’s legal system. Her trajectory from mass communications and photojournalism into law is a recurring theme in conversations about her career. It frames how she approaches client work and courtroom preparation.

She currently practices law in Louisiana through Nanthaveth & Associates, representing clients and managing the firm’s operations.
