About Veronica

Veronica Lopez-Calleja earned her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law, graduating in 2015. She completed her legal studies on the heels of a period of concentrated work in Florida legal circles. The law school experience left her fluent in courtroom procedure and local practice norms.

Her early career included a position in the City of Miami office of the City Lawyer. There she worked on matters that arise when municipal government intersects with everyday life. She handled research and drafting tasks, prepared memoranda on ordinances and administrative rules, and participated in the office’s litigation support. The role exposed her to a steady flow of municipal claims, regulatory questions and intergovernmental issues.

Lopez-Calleja later served at The Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel. In that capacity she represented individuals appointed under the state’s conflict and indigent counsel system. That work required courtroom preparation, client interviews, motion practice and appearances in trial settings. The office’s docket sharpened her trial skills and familiarity with criminal and collateral civil procedures at the state level.

After public-sector service, she moved into private practice and established the Law Offices of Veronica Lopez-Calleja, P.A. Her practice is conducted in Florida and she maintains an active presence in the state’s legal community. The firm handles matters that reflect her background in public service, including state criminal proceedings and civil matters arising out of state and local law. She manages client intake, prepares filings, and represents clients at hearings and trials.

Throughout her career she has remained engaged with professional organizations and holds current membership in bar-related groups. That membership has provided continuing legal education and a network of peers across practice areas in Florida. It has also supplied practical resources for case research and courtroom procedure.

Colleagues describe her as pragmatic in court and thorough in preparation. She favors clear written work and concise oral advocacy. Her trajectory from municipal law to public defense and then to private practice maps onto a practice that is grounded in courtroom experience and state procedural work.

She continues to operate the Law Offices of Veronica Lopez-Calleja, P.A., representing clients in Florida state matters and handling trial-level criminal and civil cases.
