About Vernadette R.

Vernadette R. Broyles entered law after a steady run through two Ivy League schools. She earned a B.S. from Yale University in 1987 and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1995. Those credentials set the stage for a career that has crossed public service and private litigation.

She began in the prosecutor’s office, serving at the Fulton County District Lawyer’s Office. That years-long exposure to courtroom work gave her an early grounding in trial practice and case management. She later moved into private litigation. Her résumé includes time at Shreeder, Wheeler, & Flint and at Hunton & Williams. Those stints expanded her work beyond criminal matters into complex civil litigation and family law disputes.

Broyles has also worked inside the machinery of state services. She chaired the DFCS Committee on the Board of the Georgia Department of Human Services. In that role she handled policy review and stakeholder engagement related to child welfare and adoption processes. Her board work informed how she approaches cases that intersect with state agencies and administrative systems.

She is admitted to practice in Georgia, and she holds admission to the U.S. District Court and to the Eleventh Circuit. Her professional affiliations reflect a concentration on family and adoption law. She is a charter fellow of the Georgia Council of Adoption Lawyers and an associate member of the Georgia Association of Licensed Adoption Agencies. She also participates in the Family Law Division of the Gwinnett County Bar Association. Those memberships put her in regular contact with judges, agency officials, and other family law practitioners across the state.

Today she is based at Georgia Adoption & Family Law Practice. Her caseload blends adoptions, custody matters, and related family law issues. She handles contested proceedings as well as agency interactions and placement matters. Her background as a prosecutor, a private litigator, and as a board committee chair shapes how she evaluates risk and prepares cases for court or negotiation.

She continues to practice in Georgia and in federal courts where admitted, concentrating on adoption and family law matters in both contested and noncontested settings.
