About Valerie

Valerie Vignaux trained as a lawyer at Boston College Law School and entered the bar in the years after graduating in 2003. She arrived at law after a liberal arts education at Hamilton College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature in 1996. Those two schools shaped different parts of her practice: close reading of texts at Hamilton and the more formal tools of advocacy at Boston College.

Her first position after law school was in the Massachusetts Superior Court, where she served as a law clerk to the justices in 2004. The work was procedural and exacting. Drafting opinions, managing records and pulling together the research judges rely on gave her an early, close-up view of how trial courts operate. The clerkship also exposed her to the pace of Superior Court dockets and the practical demands of managing complex files.

In 2005 she moved into private practice at Martinelli, Discenza, and Hannifan, PC. There she wore a number of hats typical for associates at a general practice firm. She handled written work, met with clients, and took part in litigation preparations. That time in a midsize firm environment added the practical client-side skills that complement courthouse experience.

Her career continued to move between public and private work, and in 2021 she joined Bacon Wilson, PC as a lawyer. The later move brought her back into a firm setting with a broader statewide presence. Her record shows steady involvement in matters that required an ability to navigate Massachusetts court procedures and to manage litigation from intake to resolution.

Across those roles Vignaux has built a practice grounded in legal research, drafting and courtroom procedure. She is comfortable preparing briefs and compiling the kind of factual records judges look to. Colleagues describe her as someone who approaches files methodically and who values clear, concise written work. Her background in comparative literature still shows up in how she parses statutes and cases, reading closely to identify the controlling issues.

She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and continues to work in state courts. She currently practices at Bacon Wilson, PC, handling a range of matters in Massachusetts state courts.
