About Uday
Uday Gorrepati studied political science and economics at Yale, earning his B.A. in 1999. He went on to law school at Harvard, where he completed his J.D. in 2004. The two degrees frame a career that moves between finance and private practice.
Fresh out of Yale, Gorrepati worked as an analyst at Lehman Brothers in 1999. That early exposure to markets and deal work preceded his enrollment at Harvard. After law school he joined Kirkland & Ellis LLP as an associate in 2005. He spent several years at Kirkland, gaining experience in a large-firm environment before leaving to start his own venture in 2009.
In 2009 Gorrepati founded In Re, Inc. The company represents his transition from associate in a national firm to founder of a smaller enterprise. The move reflects a shift in responsibility. He went from being a member of a team to shaping the direction of an organization.
His career bridges finance and law. Time at Lehman Brothers gave him familiarity with financial products and transactional work. His years at Kirkland exposed him to the processes and discipline of big-firm practice. Those two experiences inform how he approaches client matters and business decisions.
Gorrepati is admitted to practice in Illinois. He operates in a legal market that values both transactional skill and an understanding of business operations. He has spent the past decade-plus running In Re, Inc., overseeing its legal and organizational needs while advising clients on matters that touch on both commercial and regulatory concerns.
Colleagues describe him as deliberate in his approach and attentive to detail. He favors practical solutions over theoretical arguments. When complex issues arise he tends to break them into discrete steps and address the most pressing items first. That method suits work that sits at the intersection of corporate decision-making and legal compliance.
He continues to lead In Re, Inc. from Illinois. His current practice centers on running the company and providing legal services to clients in the state, combining his finance background and private-practice experience in advising on business and legal matters.
