About Troy L.
Troy L. Bowlin built his legal career in Tennessee courts. He began in courtrooms and clerk’s offices and has spent years defending people charged with crimes. He is the founder of The Bowlin Law Office and continues to represent clients in criminal matters and trial proceedings.
Bowlin studied political science before turning to law. He earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Tennessee and later received a J.D. from Appalachian School of Law. Those studies shaped his approach to courtroom work and case strategy.
His earliest legal work came as a law clerk in 2003. He served in the Knox County Public Defender Community Law Office and also worked as a law clerk for the Knox County General Sessions Court. Those roles gave him front-line exposure to how public defense functions and how courts process cases day to day.
Two years later he joined the Knox County Public Defender Community Law Office as a lawyer. That experience moved him from supporting roles into full client representation. In 2008 he opened The Bowlin Law Office. Since then he has handled criminal cases across Tennessee, appearing in state courts and providing trial representation for people facing serious charges.
Bowlin completed training through the National Trial Lawyers College associated with the American Association for Justice. He is active in several professional organizations. He holds current membership in the Tennessee State Bar, the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Association for Justice, the Knoxville Defense Lawyers Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. These memberships reflect the networks and continuing-education opportunities he maintains.
Colleagues and court filings show he spends much of his practice time in contested hearings and trials. He draws on the experience gained as a clerk and as a public defender to prepare defenses, examine witnesses, and make courtroom arguments. His practice involves case investigation, pretrial motions, plea discussions, and jury trials when cases reach that stage.
He currently represents clients in criminal defense and trial litigation at The Bowlin Law Office.
