About Troy J.
Troy J. Charpentier took a straightforward path into law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1987 and returned there to complete his Juris Doctor in 1991. The sequence left him rooted in Louisiana legal circles from the start.
He moved into practice in the years after law school and built a courtroom-oriented career. Records show a steady progression that led to partnership at Kean Miller LLP in 1996. That promotion came relatively early in his professional life and marked a long tenure at the firm.
Charpentier’s work spans both state and federal dockets. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana and to the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Eastern and Middle Districts of Louisiana. Those admissions allow him to take cases across multiple federal forums as well as in state court.
At Kean Miller, he has handled matters that require appearances in trial and motion settings. Colleagues and court filings reflect engagements that involve contested proceedings and the practical demands of litigation practice. He is comfortable operating in the procedural environment of federal courts while also addressing state-law claims in Louisiana’s courts.
Outside of courtroom work, he maintains professional ties within the local bar. He holds membership in the Baton Rouge Bar Association and in the Louisiana State Bar Association. Those affiliations keep him connected to developments in Louisiana law and to the statewide legal community.
Over three decades after finishing law school, Charpentier remains based at Kean Miller LLP. He continues to represent clients in state and federal litigation across Louisiana, practicing from the firm’s offices and appearing where cases require it.
