About Troy Christopher

Troy Christopher Courage built his legal foundation at Seattle University. He earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies and stayed on to complete his J.D. at Seattle University School of Law in 2009. Those years in Seattle shaped his interest in family law and community-based practice.

Soon after earning his law degree, Courage launched Courage Law PLLC in 2010. He opened his own firm and took on the practical work of representing clients in domestic relations matters. Around the same time he joined the King County Bar Association Family Law Mentor Program, participating as a lawyer helping newer practitioners learn the procedural and tactical elements of family law practice.

Courage’s career later included a move into a different firm setting. In 2023 he became an associate at Envision Family Law. The change put him in a different role from firm owner. It also placed him in a team environment where he balanced individual client work with collaborative case management.

Over the years Courage has handled divorce cases, parenting plan disputes, custody and visitation matters, and child and spousal support issues. He has experience in both settlement negotiations and courtroom proceedings. He has worked on temporary orders, modification petitions, and enforcement actions. His practice touches on mediation and contested hearings; he represents clients at various stages of a family law matter.

Courage maintains memberships in several professional groups. He is a member of the King County Bar Association and participates in its family law offerings. He belongs to the Domestic Relations Lawyers of Washington and to the Washington State Association for Justice. He also holds membership in the Washington State Bar Association Family Law Section. These affiliations connect him to peers and continuing education in the state.

Colleagues and clients describe his approach as practical and straightforward. He emphasizes clear explanations of legal options and the likely short- and long-term consequences of different choices. He prepares for hearings and negotiations the same way: by organizing discovery, reviewing statutory guidelines, and preparing thorough affidavits and motions when needed.

Courage is licensed to practice in Washington and pursues family law matters on behalf of clients in that jurisdiction. He continues to handle cases involving divorce, parenting plans, custody, and support and is currently practicing family law at Envision Family Law.
