About Tristan Nicolas
Tristan Nicolas LeGrande earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English Literature from the University of Oklahoma in 2004, then completed his Juris Doctor at South Texas College of Law in 2008, where he studied criminal litigation. His academic path mixed liberal arts and courtroom training and set the stage for work in courts and criminal defense practice.
After law school LeGrande spent time as a law clerk in several court settings. In 2007 he worked in the 165th Civil District Court and the 11th Civil District Court, and he also served as a clerk at the firm Mcafall, Breitbeil and Shults. In 2008 he took a clerkship with the multi-district litigation asbestos court. Those early roles exposed him to civil procedure, case management, and the day-to-day work of judges and litigators.
LeGrande moved into private practice shortly after. He served as a criminal defense lawyer at LeGrande Law in 2009, and also worked as an associate attorney at The Lacroix Law Office that same year. He joined The Law Office of Thomas J. Henry as an associate in 2010. By 2012 he was again identified as a criminal defense lawyer at LeGrande Law. His résumé shows a mix of clerkship experience and frontline defense work during the first decade of his career.
His practice has centered on criminal defense in Texas. That work has involved handling matters in state courts and representing individuals accused of a range of offenses. Colleagues and court records reflect frequent appearances on criminal dockets and a practice built around trial preparation, motions practice, and client counseling in contested matters.
Outside the courtroom LeGrande has maintained professional ties through bar associations. He has been a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association since 2012 and a member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association from 2012 to the present. Those memberships place him in forums where criminal defense lawyers exchange procedural updates and discuss developments in Texas criminal law.
LeGrande’s trajectory is rooted in courtroom work and criminal defense. He has adopted roles that alternate between clerking, associate work at small firms, and running his own practice. The chronology of clerkships and associate positions is reflected in his steady return to criminal defense practice.
He is licensed to practice in Texas and conducts his work through LeGrande Law. He represents clients in state criminal matters and handles trial and pretrial work at LeGrande Law in Texas.
