About Tristan
Tristan Brown built his legal foundation at the University of California, Los Angeles, earning a B.A. in 2004. He stayed in Los Angeles for law school and completed his J.D. at UCLA School of Law in 2008. Those years set the stage for a career that moves between in-house work, private practice and law office management.
Early in his career he worked as a legal intern at Occidental Petroleum in 2006. After law school he served as a law clerk at The Gillam Law Office in 2008. In 2009 he held a legal role at HBO and served as executive director at The Trejo Law Corporation. Those positions exposed him to corporate legal departments and boutique practice settings, and they helped him build practical skills on both the business and legal sides of matters.
By 2013 Brown was working at D|R Welch Lawyers as office manager and lawyer. That role combined administrative oversight with client work. A year later he moved into the role he holds today: managing lawyer at T.L. Brown Law Office, P.C., a position he has held since 2014. As managing lawyer he oversees daily operations while continuing to handle matters in court and at counsel table.
Brown is licensed to practice in California and in several federal venues. He is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Central Districts of California. He maintains membership in the San Diego County Bar Association.
The arc of Browns career reflects a balance between in-office management and courtroom practice. He has experience inside a corporate setting, in small firm environments and in running a firm. That range gives him a working knowledge of how different legal workplaces operate and how to coordinate cases across jurisdictions.
Colleagues and clients describe him as practical and steady. He tends to approach problems one step at a time, breaking complex matters into manageable tasks. He handles filings, discovery and court appearances himself and also manages teams that support those efforts.
He lives and works in California and continues to accept matters that require state or federal representation. His current practice focuses on representing clients in state and federal courts throughout California.
