About Trent
Trent Harris started his academic path at Albion College, where he completed a dual major in economics and management and in philosophy in 1999. He went on to earn his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2008. Those formative years combined liberal arts thinking with vocational training and set the stage for a practical approach to everyday legal problems.
His first legal role came before law school, working as a paralegal at Scarpelli & Brady, LLC in 2005. That experience grounded him in case preparation and client contact. After law school he spent time as a legal intern at Allegiance Health in 2009, a post that exposed him to regulatory and institutional concerns in a healthcare setting.
By 2011 Harris was operating his own practice, listed as the Law Office of Trent Harris, PLC. He returned to private practice after a stint in-house as a collections lawyer for American 1 Credit Union in 2016. The credit-union role placed him on the creditor side of collection matters and provided day-to-day exposure to consumer-credit issues, account disputes and the procedures creditors use to resolve unpaid balances.
Harris is active in local professional circles. He holds membership in the Chicago Bar Association from 2008 to the present. He is licensed to practice in both Illinois and Michigan, and he has combined public- and private-sector experience that spans courtroom work, transactional matters and client counseling.
People who have worked with him describe a lawyer who relies on clear explanations and steady case management. He moved between in-house and solo-practice roles several times, which has shaped how he balances the needs of institutional clients and individuals. His caseload has ranged from collection matters to broader civil disputes, and he has represented both creditors and private clients at different points in his career.
Today Harris operates the Law Office of Trent Harris. He handles collection-related matters and a range of civil issues for clients in Illinois and Michigan. His current practice concentrates on creditor representation, consumer collection work and general civil litigation.
