About Travis
Travis Watson built a legal path that moved steadily from large-firm practice to in-house counsel and then to running his own firm. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University in 2004 after beginning his undergraduate studies in 1998. He went on to Florida State University College of Law, where he completed his J.D. in 2007.
Straight out of law school he joined Phelps Dunbar LLP as an associate in 2007. He spent his early years learning the rhythms of firm practice. Those years exposed him to the workflows and client demands of a regional firm and gave him experience in managing complex projects and client expectations.
In 2012 he moved in-house, accepting a role as corporate counsel at WellCare Health Plans, Inc. The position placed him on the inside of a health care company’s legal operations. He worked on matters that are typical for in-house teams and gained perspective on the business side of legal decision-making.
Two years later he set up his own practice. Since 2014 he has served as managing partner of Travis Watson, P.A. Running a small firm returned him to client-facing work while also requiring the administrative oversight that comes with firm leadership. He oversees case intake, client counseling, and the day-to-day management of the practice.
Across these stages, his career reflects a mix of firm-side litigation and in-house corporate work. He is licensed to practice in Florida and continues to base his practice there. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and thorough in his approach; clients see a lawyer comfortable moving between legal analysis and practical business concerns.
Outside the office he maintains professional ties through membership in legal associations. He has kept those connections current while balancing the demands of a private practice.
His day-to-day work now centers on representing clients in Florida through his firm, Travis Watson, P.A. He focuses his practice on serving local individuals and organizations from that base.
