About Travis J.
Travis J. Jacobs combines a varied academic background with steady involvement in Boston’s legal community. He earned a B.A. from Bentley College, followed by a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Pursuing further study abroad, he completed an M.S. in Development Economics at the London School of Economics and obtained a Certificate in International Law there as well.
Early in his career Jacobs moved between transactional and litigation work. He is admitted to the Massachusetts bar and is authorized to appear in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials have allowed him to handle matters that require both courtroom presence and detailed document work.
His professional affiliations track a mix of business and trial interests. He maintains memberships in the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, and Starting Out Solo. He has also served as president of the Boston Business Law Group since 2014, a role that has kept him connected to the region’s corporate and owner-operated firms.
Jacobs founded and heads THE JACOBS LAW, LLC, where he oversees the firm’s docket and client intake. The firm lists a range of matters in its practice, reflecting the combination of commercial law training and courtroom experience Jacobs developed over years of practice. He has taken cases through state and federal proceedings and has represented clients before appellate panels when cases demanded that level of review.
Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He breaks complex agreements and disputes into discrete issues and then addresses them one by one. That procedural stance shows up in both negotiated settlements and contested hearings. His international academic work informs how he considers cross-border elements when they arise, and his business law memberships keep him current on corporate governance and transactional developments.
Outside of the office Jacobs has participated in local continuing legal education programs and group leadership projects aimed at younger practitioners. He has been particularly visible on panels and in meetings through the Boston Business Law Group, where he has steered programming and member outreach.
He continues to lead THE JACOBS LAW, LLC and practices in Massachusetts and federal courts, focusing his current work on business law matters and litigation.
