About Tracy Rotharmel
Tracy Rotharmel Shanks earned her B.S. in political science from Tulane University in 2007 and went on to receive her J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans in 2010. Her academic path kept her in Louisiana, where she has since built a legal career that spans both firm practice and firm leadership. The sequence of degrees marks a steady progression from undergraduate study into professional training at a local law school.
She began practicing law after law school. Her first post was at Beahm & Green in 2010, a role she used to gain hands-on courtroom and client experience. In 2012 she joined Blue Williams, and two years later she moved to Liskow & Lewis. Each move represented a step through the regional legal landscape, exposing her to different case loads, client expectations and firm cultures.
In 2016 she became a partner at Rotharmel Shanks, LLC. The firm carries her name and serves as the base for her work. As a partner she has overseen case strategy and client relations while managing the responsibilities that come with running a small firm. Her trajectory from associate roles into partnership reflects a turn toward leadership and practice management.
Throughout her career she has maintained ties to professional organizations, holding memberships that date back to 2010. Those connections have kept her engaged with developments in Louisiana law and provided regular contact with peers across the state. The memberships also reflect an ongoing engagement with the legal community rather than a one-off involvement.
Colleagues describe her as steady in the courtroom and methodical in preparing matters for trial or negotiation. She has experience advising clients across a range of issues encountered by regional firms. Her background includes both litigation and client counseling, work that requires balancing practical client needs with procedural demands.
Her office is based at Rotharmel Shanks, LLC. From there she handles the matters that come through the firm, overseeing case intake and legal strategy. The office functions as both a client-facing practice and an administrative center for the firm’s work.
As of 2026 she continues to practice in Louisiana. Her current work centers on advising clients and managing litigation matters for individuals and businesses through Rotharmel Shanks, LLC.
