Tracey T — Barbaree is a seasoned employment law attorney based in Atlanta, Georgia. She has been practicing law for over 30 years, representing both employers and employees in various aspects of employment and civil rights litigation. Her expertise encompasses defending against class and collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), as well as litigating individual employment discrimination claims. Barbaree earned her Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 1990, where she served as a managing editor of The Ohio State Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
She completed her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1986. In 1991, Barbaree was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia, and in 1992, she became a member of the State Bar of Texas. She is currently a partner at Moeller Barbaree LLP, a firm specializing in employment litigation and legal counseling for both businesses and individuals. Prior to founding Moeller Barbaree, she was a shareholder at Littler Mendelson, PC, and Ogletree Deakins, where she co-chaired the class action practice group. Throughout her career, Barbaree has achieved favorable trial verdicts in cases involving race discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation.
She has also secured positive results regarding class certification of race and gender hiring, promotion, and training claims against a national restaurant chain. Additionally, she has completed all stages of major reductions-in-force for national employers, from planning through separation and release agreements. Beyond her litigation practice, Barbaree serves as an adjunct professor at Georgia State University College of Law, teaching advocacy, litigation, and trial skills to second-year law students each spring semester. She is also a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and has been recognized annually as a Georgia Super Lawyer in Labor & Employment since 2008. She has been named to The Best Lawyers in America and recognized in Chambers USA as America's Leading Lawyers for Business.
Barbaree is an active member of the Labor & Employment Section of the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta Bar Association. She is also a member of the Texas State Bar. Her experience and dedication to employment law have established her as a respected figure in the legal community.
