About Tony
Tony Swartz built his legal foundation in the Pacific Northwest. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice from Central Washington University in 2005 and completed his J.D. at Willamette University College of Law in 2012. The path from classroom to courtroom came quickly after law school.
He began his career in public service. In 2012 he joined the Kittitas County Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecutor. The role gave him regular courtroom experience early on. He handled matters for the county and learned the mechanics of trial preparation and case presentation.
By 2014 he had taken on multiple roles. He opened the Law Office of Tony Swartz and began working as a defense lawyer. At the same time he served as city prosecutor in several small jurisdictions, including Ellensburg, Cle Elum, Roslyn and Wapato. That mix of defense and prosecution work exposed him to both sides of the criminal justice system and broadened his courtroom instincts.
Swartz’s training reflects that background. He holds certifications in Advanced Roadside Impairment Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) and in DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He has completed Trial Skills training from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Those credentials speak to experience handling driving-impaired matters and courtroom procedure rather than to any single specialty.
He maintains membership in the Washington State Bar Association. His work has been concentrated in Washington courts, where he has practiced for more than a decade. The combination of municipal prosecution and private defense has kept him regularly before judges, juries and magistrates across the region.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who knows local practice. Clients encounter a practitioner comfortable on both sides of a criminal docket and familiar with the technical details of impaired-driving investigations. His approach to cases is methodical. He emphasizes evidence, procedure and trial readiness.
He keeps offices under the Law Office of Tony Swartz name, including a Yakima location. He continues to accept matters in Washington and appears in municipal and county courts. His current practice focuses on criminal defense and related matters arising from traffic and impaired-driving enforcement.
