About Tony
Tony Duncan earned his J.D. from Nashville School of Law in 1995 after completing a B.A. in political science at Carson-Newman College the year before. He moved into private practice in the mid-1990s and has maintained an active courtroom and appellate presence since then. His early years in practice coincided with a period of steady professional involvement in Tennessee’s legal community.
He is admitted to practice in Tennessee and before the United States Tax Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Those admissions have shaped much of his career trajectory. Over more than three decades he has handled matters at trial and on appeal, appearing in state and federal forums when cases required higher-level review.
Duncan is a member of the American Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association, and the Tennessee Bar Association. He joined the American Association for Justice in 2000 and has served on the Board of Governors of the Tennessee Association for Justice since 2003. His participation in these organizations has included committee work and event panels, reflecting a sustained engagement with bar activities and continuing legal education.
His practice has balanced courtroom work and appellate filings. Admission to the United States Tax Court suggests involvement in matters that intersect with federal taxation, while his Sixth Circuit and Supreme Court admissions have given him standing to pursue appellate remedies when lower-court outcomes warranted review. He has represented clients in a range of procedural settings and has prepared briefs and oral arguments at multiple levels of the judiciary.
Duncan operates under the name Tony Duncan Law. The firm handles cases that require attention in the courts to which he is admitted, and it manages both trial preparation and appellate strategy. He maintains a practice that involves litigation, court appearances, and the drafting of appellate submissions.
He keeps an active role in professional organizations and in the courtroom. His current practice focuses on cases brought in the courts to which he is admitted.
