About Tom

Tom Hallock earned his J.D. at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where he completed coursework and training in trial advocacy. That classroom experience shaped his early approach to litigation. He learned trial procedure, witness examination and courtroom strategy in a setting designed to simulate real hearings and jury trials.

After law school he gained admission to the Illinois bar and to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Those admissions allowed him to take on matters in both state and federal systems. He joined professional organizations tied to criminal defense and general practice. His memberships include the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

Hallock’s work centers on criminal defense, handling matters that range from pretrial hearings to contested trials. He represents clients in arraignments, plea negotiations, suppression hearings and sentencing proceedings. He also handles motions practice and short-form appeals stemming from trial court rulings. He has focused his practice on issues that commonly arise in criminal cases, drawing on trial training to manage evidence disputes and live testimony.

Colleagues note a courtroom-oriented practice style and steady preparation for hearings. He pairs litigation work with careful case assessment outside the courtroom. That means reviewing discovery documents, consulting with experts when necessary and preparing detailed motions. His membership in several bar and defense organizations keeps him engaged with current practice developments and procedural changes in both state and federal courts.

He operates under the name Hallock Law. There he represents individuals facing criminal charges and assists them through each stage of the process. His approach emphasizes practical options for clients while preparing for trial when cases cannot be resolved earlier. He is active in bar organizations related to criminal defense and broader legal practice. He is currently practicing at Hallock Law and continues to take criminal matters in state and federal courts.
