About Todd Steven
Todd Steven Cushner graduated from Brooklyn College in 1980 with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. He returned to law school later and earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in 2001. Those two degrees bookend an unconventional path into legal practice. The early training in reporting left him comfortable with documents and deadlines. Law school delivered the technical training that followed.
He began his legal practice soon after law school and established his own firm in 2003. For more than two decades he has maintained an independent practice as owner of the Law Offices of Cushner & Associates, PC. He has carried the administrative load of running a small firm while handling client work. That combination of responsibilities shaped the way he approaches case management and client communication.
Cushner holds memberships in a number of professional groups. He is active in the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers and the Northern Valley Bankruptcy Bar Association. He also belongs to the Westchester Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and he is a member of the Justice Brandeis Law Society. Those affiliations reflect sustained involvement in the bankruptcy bar and in local legal circles. He practices in New York and New Jersey and is admitted to the Federal Circuit, which expands his ability to handle certain federal matters.
Practically, his docket has included consumer bankruptcy matters and related issues. He files and defends cases under consumer bankruptcy statutes and represents clients in related bankruptcy proceedings. He handles the procedural work in federal filings when a matter reaches that level. Over the years he has managed cases from the initial client meeting through bankruptcy court hearings and final discharge or plan confirmation.
Colleagues and clients see him most often in Westchester and surrounding counties, where his office is based. He runs a small office that provides direct attorney contact for clients and emphasizes straightforward explanations of complex bankruptcy procedures. He continues to oversee the firm’s operations while taking on new bankruptcy matters as they arise. He currently focuses his practice on consumer bankruptcy and related federal filings.
