About Todd
Todd Kelly built a law career off a straightforward sequence: study, service, then long stretches in the courtroom. He earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983 and a J.D. from Pennsylvania State University's Dickinson School of Law in 1992. He later completed the Naval Justice School at the Naval War College in 1995 and took trial skills training at the Trial Lawyers College (F-Warrior) in 2009.
His earliest legal experience came in uniform. Kelly served as a Major and Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps beginning in 1987. That role put him on active legal duty early in his career and gave him exposure to military justice and trial work. After leaving active service he moved into civilian practice and joined law firms as an associate in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Kelly's private practice path shows steady movement into leadership. He was an associate at Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein in 1998 and at Cohen & Feeley in 2001. In 2002 he became a partner at Haskins, Gregan & Kelly. He later launched The Kelly Law Office, P.C. as a trial lawyer in 2006, served as partner and office manager at The Carlson Law Office, P.C. in 2012, and in 2023 took on the role of senior partner at Muery, Farrell & Kelly, P.C.
Courtroom work and trial advocacy have been a throughline. Kelly is board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He holds admissions across multiple jurisdictions, including Texas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Mexico, and Colorado, and he is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the 4th and 5th Circuits. His memberships in trial-focused organizations reflect that orientation: the American Board of Trial Advocates, The F Warriors and the Trial Lawyers College alumni group, the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, where he has held the post of Vice President of Legislative Affairs.
Beyond the courtroom he has taken on leadership and community roles. He has served as president of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Advisory Board since 2014 and as a regional representative on the F-Warrior board. He has also been involved with trial lawyer associations at the local and state level and has participated in pro bono and public service groups.
Kelly balances trial practice with other interests, including a study in martial arts where he holds Nidan rank in Zen-Do Kai. His current practice at Muery, Farrell & Kelly, P.C. is concentrated on personal injury trials and related civil litigation.
