About Todd
Todd Kalter trained for a career in law at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he completed his undergraduate degree in 1985. He then attended Vermont Law School and earned his J.D. in 1989. Those years shaped his understanding of New England legal practice and prepared him for work at the trial bar.
He is licensed to practice in Vermont and has pursued a career rooted in litigation. In 1996 he became a partner at Kalter, Kalter & Mabey. That firm role followed several years of practice after law school; he moved into partnership and remained there as the firm developed its courtroom work.
Kalter’s professional affiliations reflect the direction of his practice. He is an active member of the Vermont Bar Association and the Vermont Association for Justice. He also belongs to the Workers Injury Litigation Group. Those memberships tie him to a network of trial lawyers and to organizations that address workplace injury and civil litigation issues.
Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in preparation. He has taken on litigation that involves workplace claims and related civil matters. His work has required familiarity with state procedural rules and with evidentiary practice in civil courts. He prepares testimony, develops case theory, and manages pretrial and trial processes.
Over the span of his career he has balanced courtroom work with case management and client counseling. At the firm he has handled discovery, motion practice, and jury trials when cases proceeded that far. He has also worked with experts to quantify damages and to explain technical issues to judges and juries.
Outside the courtroom he participates in professional gatherings and continuing legal education offered through his associations. Those events keep him connected to changes in state law and to peers who litigate similar matters across Vermont. The steady membership in the Vermont Association for Justice and the Workers Injury Litigation Group points to a practice engaged in plaintiff-oriented workplace injury litigation and related civil claims.
He practices law in Vermont at Kalter, Kalter & Mabey, where his current practice concentrates on workplace injury and other civil litigation matters.
