About Todd C.

Todd C. Pearson built a legal path that moves between public service, big-firm practice and a long-running solo practice. He combines appellate credentials and trial-court experience. His admissions include the U.S. Supreme Court and a broad set of federal courts of appeals.

He earned a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1992 and holds an M.A. in Government from the University of Pennsylvania, awarded in 1989. He received his B.A. in International Relations from George Washington University’s Virginia Campus in 1985 and earlier studied liberal arts at Saint Olaf College.

Pearson began his post-law-school work as a law clerk at the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota in 1992. That clerkship preceded an entry into private practice. He joined Dorsey & Whitney LLP as an associate in 1994, gaining experience on matters that were handled at a large regional firm.

In 1997 he opened his own practice, Pearson Law Office. He later served as of counsel at Dorsey & Whitney LLP in 2001. Those moves reflect a career that has alternated between firm affiliations and operating an independent practice.

His admissions list is broad. He is authorized to practice in Minnesota, before the U.S. Supreme Court, and in multiple federal circuits: the 1st, 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th Circuits. That range of admissions allows him to handle matters that travel beyond a single state or district.

Colleagues and clients have noted that Pearson’s work spans different types of federal practice, from district-court proceedings to appellate filings. He has handled filings and appearances in the jurisdictions to which he is admitted. His background includes both the institutional perspective gained on a federal clerkship and the procedural demands faced by private-practice litigators.

Throughout his career he has maintained a presence in Minnesota’s legal community while also practicing in matters that reach national courts. He retains an active law office under the Pearson Law Office name. He currently concentrates his practice at Pearson Law Office, handling matters in the federal and state courts where he is admitted.
