About Todd Alan
Todd Alan Peterson pursued an unusual and deliberate course through law school before entering private practice. He completed undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University, earning a B.A. in Economics in 2007. He then undertook legal studies on the West Coast and in Utah, completing J.D. programs at Seattle University School of Law in 2010 and at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2011. Those years laid a practical foundation for the work that followed.
His first legal position after law school was as a law clerk at Salcido Law Office in 2011. The role was an early immersion in client files and courtroom procedures. He returned to that same office a few years later as an associate in 2013, taking on greater responsibility for case management, filings and client communications. The time at Salcido exposed him to the rhythms of a small firm practice and the demands of representing individuals and businesses in everyday legal matters.
Peterson left the associate role to establish his own practice in 2019. As founder of Peterson Legal PLLC he moved from working inside an established office to running one. That step involved not only lawyering but also the business of operating a firm: overseeing case intake, handling administrative duties, and setting office policies. Founding the firm marked a shift from supporting roles to leading client matters from intake through resolution.
Over the course of his career he has practiced law in Utah. His experience spans time as a clerk, then an associate, and now as the lawyer running his own firm. Those transitions reflect a steady progression of responsibility. Colleagues and clients would see an attorney familiar with the procedural side of litigation and the day-to-day tasks of private practice.
Peterson’s path combines a background in economics with two law degrees and nearly a decade and a half of work in legal offices. He approaches his work like a professional who has seen cases from several vantage points: student, clerk, associate and firm principal. That range informs how he evaluates client matters and organizes a practice.
He continues to practice law in Utah through Peterson Legal PLLC. His current practice focuses on serving clients from his firm in Utah.
