About Timothy S.

Timothy S. Hart built his foundation in tax practice through formal study. He earned a Juris Doctor from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 1999 after concentrating on tax law. Earlier, he completed a Master of Science in Taxation at the State University of New York at Albany in 1991. Those academic credentials shaped a career that crosses accounting and legal disciplines.

Early in his professional life he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, in 1997 where he gained practical experience on client tax matters in a large-firm setting. He moved into private practice and, in 2003, became a partner at O'Connell and Aronowitz, P.C. That role placed him squarely in the intersection of tax advice and dispute resolution for businesses and individuals. In 2011 he established his own firm, Timothy S Hart Law Group, P.C., where he remains the owner.

Hart is also a certified public accountant and has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 2001. That dual credential — law and accounting — informs the way he handles tax controversies, planning, and compliance issues. He is admitted to practice in New York. Outside his private practice he served in a volunteer capacity with the Epilepsy Foundation, acting as treasurer from 2008 through 2017.

Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who moves comfortably between numbers and statutes. He has handled matters that require both technical tax knowledge and courtroom or negotiation skills. His background at a Big Four accounting firm and later as a partner in a smaller firm gave him experience on both large institutional files and more individualized client work. He has continued to apply those experiences since founding his own practice.

Today he maintains offices in Albany and New York City. His practice addresses federal and state tax matters, tax controversy and planning, and related transactional work. He operates his law group from those two offices and continues to accept matters that involve complex tax issues and regulatory compliance.

His current practice focuses on federal and state tax matters, tax controversy and planning, and related transactional work.
