About Timothy
Timothy Jones earned his J.D. from the University of Cincinnati in 2008. He moved west soon after and began a legal career that mixed courtroom exposure and office practice. Early on he spent a year as a law clerk at Burg Simpson in 2009, where he got a close view of case preparation and litigation practice.
In 2011 he opened the Law Office of Timothy Jones, PLLC. That move shifted him from a supporting role into practice management. He built a small office in Idaho and handled a range of matters that required both procedural knowledge and client-facing work. Running his own firm forced him to learn the administrative side of law as well as the substantive side.
His involvement in professional associations has been notable. From 2021 to 2022 he served as secretary and treasurer of the Idaho chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Those roles put him in contact with colleagues across the state and involved organizing chapter finances and meetings. The work also kept him current on federal developments affecting immigration practice.
Clients and peers describe Jones as practical and direct. He favors clear explanations over legalese. That approach grew out of handling day-to-day immigration paperwork and hearings, where timelines and documentation matter. His years in private practice have required him to handle strategy, client intake, and court filings on his own.
Jones’s path through law has been steady. A law degree in 2008 led to clerking work and then to forming his own office three years later. He has stayed in Idaho and focused his energies on the legal needs of people and businesses dealing with immigration issues. The combination of association work and solo practice has given him a practical perspective on how national policy changes affect local clients.
He maintains an active practice in Idaho and continues to serve clients from his firm. His current practice centers on immigration law at the Law Office of Timothy Jones, PLLC.
