About Timothy J.
Timothy J. Ryan began his academic path at Boston College, where he completed undergraduate studies in 1974 with concentrations in psychology and political science. He went on to study law at Southwestern University School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 1980. The combination of social science training and legal education shaped an approach to practice that privileges human stories as much as legal rules.
He opened his own practice early in his career. In 1981 he established Timothy J. Ryan & Associates. He has maintained the firm through decades of changes in tort law and court procedure. The office identifies itself as a personal injury practice. Over time the firm developed a steady presence representing people injured in a range of accidents and incidents.
Many of Ryan’s professional affiliations point to trial work. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and belongs to several trial and plaintiff-side organizations, including the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association, the Western Trial Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Consumer Lawyers Association of Los Angeles. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the California State Bar. He serves on the Board of Governors for Consumer Lawyers of California.
