About Tiffany Vanessa
Tiffany Vanessa Colbert earned a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in 2008. She continued her legal education at Stetson University College of Law, receiving her Juris Doctor in 2011. Those formative years combined classroom instruction with practical legal training and set the stage for a career in criminal defense.
After law school, Colbert joined the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida Office of the Public Defender in 2011. There she represented clients in the public defender system and handled an array of casework that exposed her to courtroom procedure and client advocacy early in her career. Two years later she launched her own practice. In 2013 she opened Colbert Law and began representing clients in private practice while continuing to handle matters emerging from her previous public defender experience.
Her interest in legal education led to a return to the University of Central Florida as an adjunct professor in 2017. In that role she taught courses that drew on her courtroom background and her experience managing a private practice. Teaching has been one of several ways she has stayed connected to the local legal community while balancing caseload demands.
Colbert maintains memberships in a range of professional organizations. She has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2008 and joined the Orange County Bar Association in 2010. Her involvement in criminal defense circles began in 2011 with membership in the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and expanded in 2013 to include the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She also holds memberships in the Florida Association for Women Lawyers and the Central Florida Association for Women Lawyers, both since 2013.
Her career reflects steady movement from public service into private practice and into legal education. The hands-on work at the public defender’s office offered early exposure to courtroom work and client representation. Building Colbert Law allowed her to shape a practice that draws on that foundation while addressing the needs of individuals in the local courts. She currently handles criminal defense matters at Colbert Law.
