About Thomas

Thomas Prestia built his legal foundation in Florida. He earned a B.S. in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in 2006 and followed that with a J.D. from Barry University School of Law in 2009. Those years shaped his understanding of courtroom procedure and state practice.

After law school, Prestia moved into public service. He served as an Assistant State Lawyer at the Miami-Dade State Lawyer's Office. There, he handled courtroom work, prepared cases for trial, and gained experience in the day-to-day demands of a busy prosecutorial office. Colleagues described his time there as formative; it provided steady exposure to trial practice and case management.

Prestia is admitted to practice in Florida and before the Federal Circuit. That mix of state and federal admissions informs how he approaches cases. He has experience at both trial and appellate levels and is comfortable moving matters through the different stages of litigation. His courtroom experience at the Miami-Dade office helped him learn to make quick decisions under pressure and to manage complex dockets.

He maintains memberships in professional associations and participates in local legal circles. Those connections keep him engaged with peers and current legal developments. He regularly draws on those relationships when preparing for hearings or appellate work.

Clients and other lawyers who have worked with Prestia note the practical approach he brings to case preparation. He tends to break large problems into manageable steps. He prepares thoroughly for hearings and places emphasis on procedural accuracy. That habit is often apparent in how he presents motions and prepares appellate briefs.

Outside the courtroom, Prestia’s earlier education in legal studies has continued to shape his viewpoint. The analytical training from UCF and the doctrinal work at Barry University combine in his legal writing and courtroom strategies. He uses that foundation to assess risk and to chart procedural paths that aim for clear outcomes.

Now practicing in Florida and before the Federal Circuit, Prestia applies his trial and appellate experience to litigation across state and federal matters. His current practice focuses on litigation in Florida courts and matters before the Federal Circuit.
