Thomas Owen Rassman is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2005. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Rassman is a partner at Opelon LLP, a law firm specializing in trusts, estates, and probate law, located in Carlsbad, California. He has been practicing law for over 20 years, serving clients throughout San Diego County.
Mr. Rassman earned his Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2004. He also holds a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 2003.
Mr. Rassman's practice focuses on estate planning, probate, and trust administration. He represents individuals and families in creating comprehensive estate plans, guiding trustees and beneficiaries through trust administration, and assisting with probate proceedings. His work encompasses all stages of these processes, including initial consultations, document preparation, court filings, and post-death administration.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rassman has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal. Before co-founding Opelon LLP in 2021, he was a partner at Rassman Law in Carlsbad, California, where he practiced for over 15 years.
Mr. Rassman is an active member of the California State Bar and its Trusts and Estates Section. He is also a member of the San Diego County Bar Association, including its Taxation and Business and Corporate Law Sections, and the North County Bar Association. In 2025, he was named a finalist for Business Professional of the Year by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and was selected to the San Diego Super Lawyers list for the third consecutive year. Mr. Rassman is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of San Diego County effectively.
