About Thomas
Thomas Hogan combined legal study and accounting training across two University of California campuses. He earned a law degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco after completing both an MBA in accounting and a B.A. at the University of California, Los Angeles. The academic mix shaped a practice that sits at the intersection of corporate law, finance and insolvency.
His early professional years were spent in accounting. He worked as a senior auditor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he learned large-firm procedures and financial review. He later moved into legal roles inside industry. At Ashby Lumber Company in Berkeley he served as in-house corporate counsel and later as outside general counsel, advising on contracts, operations and regulatory matters. He has also held outside corporate counsel responsibilities for Verity in Sunnyvale and spent time of counsel at the Law Offices of Brian D. Thiessen in Alamo.
In 2002 his practice included engagements at Damrell, Nelson, Schrimp, Pallios, Pacher & Silva in Modesto. Over the years he has taken on roles that require both legal judgment and financial literacy. That background helped when he served as a United States Bankruptcy Chapter 11 trustee, a position that requires managing estates, overseeing creditor relations and reviewing complex business restructurings.
Hogan has maintained a presence in alternative dispute resolution. He is on the American Arbitration Association’s commercial panel and sits on arbitration and mediation panels for the Superior Court in Contra Costa County. He has also served as a pro tem judge for the same court. Those roles keep him engaged in commercial arbitration and evidentiary procedure outside of courtroom litigation.
Beyond paid practice, he participates in pro bono and community service. He serves on the foundation board of Hospice of Modesto. He is also a life member of the California Alumni Association, reflecting continued ties to his alma maters.
He currently operates the Thomas Hogan Law Office. His work over several decades has touched corporate counsel work, outside general counsel arrangements, bankruptcy administration and commercial arbitration. He maintains a private practice handling corporate, bankruptcy and arbitration matters.
