About Thomas Herbert

Thomas Herbert Rosenhagen built his foundation in business before turning to law. He earned a B.B.A. in marketing from Western Michigan University in 1976 and completed his J.D. at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 1979. The combination of a business degree and a law degree shaped a practical approach to client advocacy.

After law school he entered practice in Michigan and established a steady presence in the local bar. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Michigan and is authorized to appear before the Sixth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Over the years he has handled administrative hearings, district court appeals and federal appellate matters related to disability benefits and other civil disputes.

Rosenhagen has maintained active involvement in professional organizations. He has been a member of the Kalamazoo Bar Association and the Michigan Bar Association since 1979. He joined the American Bar Association and the Michigan Trial Lawyers Association in 1980. His affiliation with the American Trial Lawyers Association dates to 1984. Since 2005 he has held membership in the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives. That mix of local and national participation has kept him connected to evolving procedures and case law affecting claimants.

He is best known for work on Social Security disability cases. His practice includes representing claimants at hearings before administrative law judges and pursuing appeals when benefits are denied. He has experience preparing medical records, managing expert testimony, and presenting complex fact patterns to adjudicators. Clients who come to him typically face long-term disability issues, chronic medical conditions, or contested determinations of benefits. He handles both the administrative phases and the litigation steps that follow unfavorable administrative decisions.

Rosenhagen currently practices at West Michigan Social Security Disability Law Ctr. and continues to represent Social Security disability claimants in hearings and appeals. He focuses his day-to-day work on those matters and on advising clients about procedural options and next steps after a denial of benefits.
